Learning & Working

FilmAcademy360 students complete a short film project for their own personal use, publication to the web, or submission for juried contests and festivals. Examples include TV spoofs, commentary, current event reports, art pieces, and more.

Acting For Social Communication Skills

Direct instruction in acting and performance, and the near instantaneous feedback video provides, has been shown to improve social skills as well as engender self-confidence, self-awareness, clearer facial expression and expressive speech, and appropriate posture.

Using research-based strategies, we also teach acting for the camera to promote self-confidence and self-expression. Teachers, peers and family members notice a change in students after they master their on-camera performances.

Behavioral consultants are available to assist students with autism spectrum disorders and related behavioral disabilities as they participate in the FilmAcademy360 program.

As our students advance, they have the opportunity to work on “in-house” production projects and services, further developing their technical skills and confidence.

Adobe Photoshop and Premier Certification programs are also available.

Unique Minds and Voices

An important part of our work is helping our students find and project their own voices through the production of original video content. If they choose, examples of their work and unique perspectives can be made available publicly via web publishing, film festivals and local broadcasts.

Community Partnerships

FilmAcademy360 partners with local community colleges and universities with certificate or degree programs in Film and Media to coordinate curriculum and equipment purchases. These collaborations provide our students with a distinct advantage if and when they decide to transition to one of these organizations for further education, internships or employment.

In addition, we support outside work experiences in volunteer and paid freelance positions at local broadcasters and independent production companies.
