Independence 360 offers day habilitation services funded by DDD or private pay. Our day habilitation program focuses on three core content areas; life skills, social skills, and personal development. Adults receive training in technology, travel training, health and fitness, money management, reading and writing for adult life, citizenship and civics, as well as recreational and sports/fitness opportunities. Adults are also able to choose areas of interest in which to gain skills, expertise and experience. Though the program is center-based, adults are out every day, integrating into the greater community to gain real “life” experience.
Independence360’s vocational program provides many and varied opportunities to promote pre-vocational job training and vocational, competitive paid work experience. This program is funded through DVRS, DDD, and private pay. It is our goal to help all participants who want to work learn the skills needed and find competitive employment in fields of interest. Adults are actively involved in pre-vocational training, internships and apprenticeships, on- and off-site, as well as being exposed to a variety of integrated volunteer opportunities with our community partners.
Independence360 is committed to finding competitive employment for all people with disabilities who seek work. We pride ourselves in our ability to match the individual’s aptitude, skills and interests with the appropriate environment to create long-term job placements.
Independence 360’s DVRS program is approved to provide job placement and supported employment in Essex and Morris Counties. Adults work individually with job coaches and employment specialists to secure competitive employment.
Independence360 is an approved DDD/Medicaid vendor to provide Day Habilitation, Behavioral Supports, Community Based Supports, Pre-vocation and Supported Employment. All services provided by Independence360 are available through private pay.
Counseling offers adults with autism and related developmental disabilities much needed support and guidance from trusted adults outside their families to help them cope with life’s challenges. Our Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) provides one-to-one counseling and small group counseling.
Behavioral supports are supervised by our LCSW, allowing Independence360 to provide clinically appropriate, evidence-based interventions when challenging behavior becomes a barrier to work, relationships or independence.
Innovative technology is used to support communication, behavior, life skills, travel skills and job skills. Independence360 prides itself on the use of age-appropriate technology, such as iPads, iPods, tablets and laptops, to promote the independence and success of each adult. We also teach and review appropriate use of social media and work hard to help individuals learn the social rules of the technological age.
Community-based Instruction teaches life functional skills. Independence360 adults learn to order a meal in a restaurant, handle money, write checks, take public transportation, and enjoy cultural and educational experiences in the community.
Overnights: Respite for Families
Respite opportunities promote further independence, and give families and caregivers of adults with autism a much-needed break. Independence360 prides itself on the travel training experiences to locations such as the Poconos in PA, Long Beach Island NJ, Kingston, NY, and NYC. These respites are packed with activities, independent skill growth, and lots of fun!
Social Night Out & Recreational Events
Independence360 hosts events, weekend day trips and other activities outside its regular program hours. These events and activities encourage social interaction, decrease isolation and loneliness, and provide opportunities to practice social and life skills. Age appropriate events such as Comic-Con, Broadway shows, adult dances and various cultural events let adults live full and vibrant lives.
