On October 18th, Spectrum360 was honored to receive one of the New Jersey Business and Industry (NJBIA) Awards for Excellence. Each year, NJBIA recognizes a select group of companies whose energy and vision has resulted in exceptional achievements in the state of New Jersey. There are four award categories including Business Success, Community Service, Outstanding Employer, and Environmental Quality.
Laura Jennings, Spectrum360 Development Coordinator, who completed the nomination form on behalf of the organization was no stranger to the process. “Last year we nominated UNEX Manufacturing for the Community Service Award and they won!” Jennings shared. “Of course, I attended the ceremony to watch them accept the award. I found myself inspired by the tremendous efforts these companies were making to improve life for people in New Jersey.
This year’s nominations for the Awards for Excellence came at an exciting time for Spectrum360. We had just opened our adult facility in Whippany, allowing us to increase enrollment and hire more staff. “When I looked at all we had accomplished I realized that Spectrum360 is doing something exceptional,” Jennings explained.
In fact, Spectrum360 has increased employment by 17% in the past year with a nearly 33%increase in entry-level roles. By hiring more people, we are able to serve more students and clients in need of our support. In our application, Jennings wrote about the great services Spectrum360 provides for individuals on the autism spectrum, including our job placement services, but she also added a new perspective, acknowledging the jobs we create.
