Community Based Work Experience Program (CBWE)

Academy360 student in Community Based Work Experience at private special education school in Livingston, NJThe CBWE program provides pragmatic work-oriented experience that permits students to apply life skills and academic subject matter outside the classroom setting and features hands-on learning and application.

When students are ready, they will be placed in a job within the community with the support of a job coach. The final objective is to have the student placed in a paid position within their home community with minimal or no support.

Academy360 has developed relationships with local businesses to provide our students with work experience opportunities. Community Based Work Experience now includes over 25 sites, providing students with practical, hands-on work experience. Use of iPads and a variety of work-related apps help increase student independence in the work environment.

Work experiences are varied and include sites such as:
